Berlin… what can I say about my favourite city other than I miss it every day? I lived there for 12 months from June 2013 – June 2014 and I honestly loved every minute. I WILL live and work there again in the future.
I worked as an English Teacher at Sprachcenter Mouroum and although the travelling was a bit much at time I really loved inspiring and teaching all the young children. I taught approx. 100 kids between the ages of 3 and 10. Some were more difficult than others as most of the littler ones didn’t even speak German properly yet so teaching them English was certainly a challenge! I taught 18 one-hour classes a week all over the city and its outskirts, I can still to this recite the U2 underground line.
Living in Berlin was amazing! Its such a fun, relaxed city with people from all walks of life. Whether you’re interested in warehouses raves, graffiti or history there is something for everyone in Berlin. I lived right in the centre of the city, close to the main square Alexanderplatz, which was the perfect location to reach anywhere in Germany (and often Europe) within a few hours!
I don’t know if it was just because I wasn’t studying or because it was generally a more exciting place to live but it was honestly the best year of my life so far. If you ever get the chance to go – DO IT!
